Alumni of the Millennium Class (SMS Class of 2000) of the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, have donated GH₵204,000 to support the School’s SMS Alumni Legacy Project.
The donation was presented during the Second White Coat Ceremony of the School of Medical Sciences and the School of Dentistry, a symbolic event that marks the formal transition of medical and dental students into clinical training.
The presentation of the cheque by the Millennium Class was one of the highlights of the ceremony, underscoring the alumni’s continued commitment to strengthening medical education at their alma mater.
Members of the class indicated that the contribution is intended to support the SMS Alumni Legacy Project, an initiative aimed at improving teaching facilities, expanding training infrastructure, and advancing the School’s long-term vision for excellence in medical education, research, and service.
Management of the School and executives of the SMS Alumni Association received the cheque on behalf of the School and expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a significant demonstration of alumni commitment to institutional development.
They commended the Millennium Class for maintaining strong ties with the University and for contributing meaningfully to the growth of the School.
Leadership of the School noted that alumni engagement remains a critical pillar in sustaining the progress of the School of Medical Sciences, particularly as medical education continues to expand to meet the growing healthcare needs of Ghana and the global community.
The ceremony brought together faculty members, university officials, alumni, and students in a celebration of professional commitment and institutional heritage.
